Carnival Breeze Offers +180 Med Tours, New 'Select Experiences'

Posted June 11, 2012

Carnival Cruise Lines has created more than 180 shore excursions for Carnival Breezes inaugural season in the Mediterranean, including several select experiences that provide unusual opportunities in a personalized way.

For example, from Civitavecchia, Vatican Gardens, St. Peters & Rome is a private, 10-hour tour that includes a typical Italian lunch. From St. Peters Square, participants enter Vatican City through the gate of St. Uffizio Square where they get panoramic views of its gardens and fountains before visiting St. Peters Basilica. The day concludes with Roman highlights such as the Spanish Steps, Navona Square, the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain.

Other excursions include Three Island Yacht Cruise from Dubrovnik, a five-hour trip to the Elaphati Islands - Lokrum, Kolocep and Lopud - while sipping chilled wine aboard a luxury yacht.

And from Livorno, the Essence of Tuscany tour gives participants the chance to create their own Under the Tuscan Sun experience visiting the town of San Gimignano, the setting for the popular book and movie. After a traditional Italian meal in a nearby farmhouse, passengers explore Siena and its art masterpieces.

Carnival Breezes inaugural Mediterranean season runs through Oct. 25. The ship visits destinations in Italy, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, France, Spain and Monaco. Excursion choices range from guided tours of famous museums and centuries-old architectural marvels to touring the countryside and tasting local cuisine and wine. More active pursuits include exploring dormant volcanoes, cycling and kayaking.
