The Moselle River, a western tributary of the Rhine, flows through France, Luxembourg, and Germany. The river passes through the Moselle Valley, famous for its beautiful scenery including charming villages alongside medieval castles and picturesque vineyards. The towns are full of welcoming taverns, providing the perfect place to sample the region's excellent wines such as Riesling, Elbling, Muller-Thurgau and Kerner.

Germany holds two popular ports along the Moselle, Trier and Koblenz. Trier is Germany's oldest city and well known for its well preserved Roman and medieval buildings including Porta Nigra, a city gate from antiquity and now Trier's signature landmark. In Koblenz, the Moselle meets the Rhine River and is a beautiful backdrop to the vibrant 2000-year old city teaming with fortresses, palaces and monuments that paint a vibrant picture of the town's storied past.

The Moselle River joins the Rhine River so most travel on this river is combined with a Rhine or Main River cruise.
