Majesty of the Seas Review - Day 2

Sunday - June 16th

Excited for our arrival in Key West, we woke up extra early this morning. Our dinner at Starlight the previous night was so good, we decided to go there for breakfast as well. Because the menu was a la carte, it took a bit more time than we had anticipated, so we made a mental note to grab breakfast at the buffet in the future.

Getting off the ship at 10 a.m., we took the trolley downtown. It only took 5 minutes to arrive but we were already strolling around the shops, looking for some AC to escape the heat of the day.

For only $20 total for two bikes for the whole day, we found quite a steal at We Cycle and decided to rent the bikes! But my nerves creeped up when I realized these bikes didn't have brakes; they were coasting bikes. After listening to the instructions that to break I'll need to back pedal, I thought to myself some motivational words, "I can do this."

For anyone wondering… yes, I did crash the bike.

As we rode around town, we passed by art shops, local bars and restaurants, and even Ernest Hemingway's home. Bryant started to get hungry though, and having him hungry AND overheated wasn't going to be fun for anyone, so we took a pit stop at Pinchers for some local snow crab. Bryant was very impressed with his order, while I opted for a chicken sandwich instead (I don't eat shellfish). The restaurant was offering two for one drinks, so I ordered the sangria and Bryant had an IPA.

Hopping back on our bikes after lunch to ride around some more, we stopped at a few local bars like Sloppy Joe's where a live band was playing. The music encouraged us to stop for mojitos and stay until the band was done with their show.

We then headed to the Bull and Whistle Bar, where we found fun games upstairs. We used up all our change at foosball (which I won) and pool (which Bryant won). Celebrating our mutual winning streak, we ordered some gin and tonics.

As the clouds began to roll in around 4 p.m., we decided to head back to the ship. Finding the trolley was easy (every 20 minutes the trolleys arrive downtown to pick up passengers), and we were taken right back to the port. The driver made the ride entertaining with a brief history lesson on Key West. Did you know you can be fined $1000 if you get caught with a conch shell? One tourist got caught with 40, yikes!

Once we arrived back to our room, we were happy to find it perfectly tidy for us. The neatly made beds tempted us to take a well-deserved three hour nap, sleeping in past our arranged dining time.

While I'm not really a buffet gal and preferred our dinner at Starlight the previous night, we headed to the Windjammer for a late dinner. After eating, we went to the Chorus Line Lounge to watch a fun music and dance filled show.

Exhausted from the day's activities, we strolled around the ship until we passed by a small area of games like checkers. Deciding to play was a good idea (for me). I won, for anyone who is keeping track of our scores.

Grabbing some sweet treats on our way back to our room, we then headed to bed for the evening.
